Mushkegowuk—James Bay Liberals nominate Matthew Pronovost as 2022 Ontario Liberal Party candidate – Ontario Liberal Party

April 6, 2022 – Liberals in Mushkegowuk—James Bay have nominated French-language services advocate and teacher Matthew Pronovost as the candidate for the Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) in the upcoming provincial election.

“Matthew has demonstrated his passion for education and his community throughout his career,” said PLO leader Steven Del Duca. “He will be the strong voice Mushkegowuk—James Bay needs at Queen’s Park after years of missing representation.

Pronovost spent his early years volunteering, coaching and officiating youth sports, and working at the local plywood mill to pay for his post-secondary education. While studying at Laurentian University, he began working for the Fédération de la jeunesse francophone (FESFO) where he led seminars in schools in Northern Ontario. He continues to be a strong advocate for the preservation of French-language services and the expansion of French-language education in Ontario.

Since beginning his education career in 2010, he has had the opportunity to work at all levels from K-12 and has experience teaching in both French and English. Outside of his teaching career, Pronovost continued to volunteer his time coaching a variety of sports to provide his students with opportunities to develop teamwork, develop leadership, and experience modes. healthier lives. He currently resides in Moonbeam where he is a volunteer firefighter and teaches at a high school in Smooth Rock Falls.

“For more than 20 years, Mushkegowuk—James Bay has not been able to elect a member of the provincial government,” said Pronovost. “We deserve a place at the table, and I am committed to making the Trans-Canada Highway safer, working with First Nations communities, protecting public education, supporting healthcare workers, and repealing the Bill 124. Let’s work together to bring about positive change in the north.”
