Northampton’s most oversubscribed secondary schools revealed as places for September 2022 are announced
A total of 4,786 secondary school places have been allocated to pupils in West Northamptonshire.
This is the first year that places have been allocated specifically in West Northants, following the reorganization of local government last year.
79.4% of applicants – 3,798 children – were assigned a place in their first preference – a slightly lower percentage than the county as a whole last year (80.7% in 2021).
95.8% of applicants were assigned one of their preferred schools, which is similar to the number of children who get a place in a preferred school (95.7% in 2021).
98.7% of requests were made online (as in 2021).
Families who applied for their secondary school place online and on time can view their offer on the council’s online admissions portal.
Councilor Fiona Baker, WNC Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education, said: ‘The transition to secondary school is an important milestone in the lives of all our young people and the Council and I will work hard to make sure they get the support and opportunities they deserve during the rest of their journey.”
Any parent has the right to appeal (through the Independent Appeals Process) the denial of a place at any school to which they have applied.
The next round of allocation of secondary school places (for late applicants) will take place in April.
