On the front of the stage with Emillian Garcia | News, Sports, Jobs
Emillian Garcia has hope for those who saw him play for St. Edmond Catholic Schools.
“I want to be remembered as the one who brought joy and excitement when I stepped on stage,” Garcia said. “Bringing enthusiasm and energy to every performance makes the whole thing even more special.”
A senior, Garcia has been involved in spoken word, musicals, and choir, as well as soccer, track, and basketball as a team leader.
“Life can seem very slow and nothing happens when you don’t get involved,” he said. “I had so much fun doing all these different activities and hanging out with all my friends.
“It’s really fun and you create so many memories and relationships doing it.”
For Garcia, there is not just one moment he will cherish and remember on the road.
“During the musicals, getting on stage and just practicing and getting ready for the big performance,” he said. “I was able to bring an energy that was just something so different to me, but so fun at the same time.”
All these opportunities that were presented to him allowed Garcia to become the person he is today.
“I love the ability to express myself on so many different levels while using one character to do so,” he said. “It’s an experience and an adrenaline rush to do something like this and it makes me want to keep doing it.”
He thanks Professor Ben Wegner for inspiring him and “help me learn everything I was struggling with.”
Garcia plans to attend Iowa Central before transferring to the University of Northern Iowa to earn his master’s degree in secondary education. He recently received the Ava and Jackson Memorial Scholarship from St. Edmond.
